About Our Society

Readers, writers and those who aspire to be such – be welcome in the English and Literary society, also known as LitSoc! Our society focuses on events related to enjoying and creating literature – from giving aspiring writers a chance to share their work to making bookmarks together. Don’t worry though, we’re not snobs – you’ll feel comfortable in our ranks even if you can’t quote a single line from Joyce.

~ 2025/2026 ~

If all you’re after is a hot beverage and some company, come to one of our weekly Coffee Mornings. If you write and want a place to share your work, Don’t Talk About Write Club (DTAWC) also happens weekly, and this year, we might include some ice-breaking writing challenges.  Biweekly (once every two weeks) you can join us for Small Reads Club – a book club focused on short stories, so you can swallow one in between classes.

Besides regular events, we have special events galore. Take the Bookshop Crawls – trips where we visit many of Dublin’s lovely bookshops in a row. Indulge your inner book hoarder or just flip through the comics section – we won’t judge. We also have Day Tours to places in the city where the spirit of creativity is alive. If there is ever a rainy evening in need of cheering up, you can come and play some Bookish Games. Oh, and who can forget the Author Talks! Yes, you’ll get to listen to known authors, and maybe ask them some questions yourself. Finally, stay tuned for Collabs with other societies – after all, literature has covered all aspects of life.

We strive to be a place where poets, nerds and bookworms can make friends. Join us, and make it a good year.

Sincerely, LitSoc.

P. S. Don’t ever be intimidated by the committee. We have no idea what we’re doing either.
