Χαιρε, Salvete, and welcome to the 120th session of the UCD Classical Society! Founded in 1906, we are one of the oldest societies on campus. Throughout the years, our society has focused on bringing the discipline of Classics – and its components of mythologies, history, and ancient literature – closer to UCD’s student body.
The society welcomes everyone, not just students of Classics. Did you read Percy Jackson as a child? Did you watch The Odyssey over the summer? Have you heard a few myths in passing and want to know more? Whatever your background is in Classics, there will be something for everyone here. We look forward to seeing you at our events.
We have paint and sips, pub quizzes, table quizzes, film screenings, game nights, book clubs, and more. This year, we hope to emphasise our members’ interests, so we will have space for students to present and discuss topics that they love in an informal environment.
We are fortunate to be so close to UCD’s very own Classical Museum, which we visit regularly. This museum is Ireland’s largest collection of classical antiquities. We are certain you will find your own favourite among the coins, figurines, pottery, and other artifacts!
