The School of Chemistry EDI committee and ChemSoc warmly invite you to join us for a screening of “A Chemical Imbalance”, a film by our 2025 Wheeler Lecturer, Professor Polly Arnold OBE FRS. Made through the award of the Royal Society Rosalind Franklin prize to Professor Arnold, this short documentary film examines why women are still under-represented in all science fields.

After the screening, we will be joined by our panellists, Professor Polly Arnold OBE FRS, Ad Astra fellow Dr Evan Spotte-Smith and ChemSoc president Aoibheann Smyth to reflect on changes since this documentary was made and consider where are we now. Chaired by our Athena Swan lead Professor Serena Cussen, we look forward to an insightful discussion and welcome questions from our audience.
