We’re honoured to have Dr. Caoimhe Rooney from Mathematigals coming in to give a guest lecture. Caoimhe is an applied mathematician who obtained her PhD from the University of Oxford in Industrially Focused Mathematical Modelling. She is currently at NASA Ames Research Center studying distant planets to understand how they formed, what they’re made of, and if they could be home to extra-terrestrial life. Recently honoured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list for Science and Healthcare, she’s coming to UCD to talk about mathematics, why it’s useful, how it can be applied to the real world, as well as specific examples from her career in space sustainability. This is sure to be a great talk, especially in terms of future careers, so make sure to come down!
