The Venture Capital Investment Competition is the largest venture capital competition in the
world with over 130 universities taking part each year. Last week, UCD hosted the Irish qualifier
for the VCIC, bringing together talented teams from Ireland’s 6 premier universities. The
competition challenges participants to think critically about market potential, financial viability,
and strategic fit, simulating the decision-making process of professional venture capitalists.
Having won the Irish qualifier, UCD has earned the exclusive invitation to compete in the global
finals at the University of North Carolina. At this culminating event, top teams from around the
world conduct due diligence on real start-ups who are there on the day and present their
investment recommendations to panels of experienced venture capitalists, showcasing their
analytical skills, negotiation prowess, and entrepreneurial insight. The VCIC offers a unique
opportunity to engage with industry leaders, refine investment strategies, and gain invaluable
experience in venture capital deal-making.
