UCD Planning & Environmental Policy Society (PEP-Soc) is a student-run community passionate about Planning & Environmental Policy. Whether you’re studying these subjects as a part of your degree or simply have an interest, PEP-Soc welcomes all UCD students!
Throughout the year, we host a variety of events on the main UCD campus, in Richview, and beyond. From social gatherings like coffee mornings and pub quizzes to insightful talks, competitions, and day trips, there’s something for everyone.
We look forward to meeting you – feel free to reach out through our socials!

The year is all but done, however we’re desperate to stay in touch! After last year’s Summer Find the Site Notice Competition, we’ve dreamed up another way to keep you occupied over the long break from UCD - introducing the Summer 2025 Photo Competition! Click the image for more info.
Planning plays an important role shaping the world which we interact with every day. Planning aims to manage change in our natural and built environment in order to pursue the most sustainable outcomes for society as a whole. When done well, planning can uniquely create sustainable and thriving communities.
We aim to raise awareness and spark conversation about the role of Environmental Policy in rising to some key challenges facing the natural world, including Climate Change and Biodiversity loss. By fostering an appreciation and understanding of the natural environment, we hope to develop a sense of stewardship and responsibility for our planet.
PEPSOC has an important role in empowering UCD students to understand and engage with the world around them through a lens of planning and environmental policy. In doing so, the society will also cultivate a diverse community of people seeking to share their
knowledge, learn new things, and have fun alongside their studies.
Like all UCD Societies, PEPSOC is run by an elected committee which is made up of UCD students. Each year, two elections are held at our Annual General Meeting (held usually in May), and our Secondary Meeting (usually held in September or October), in which the members of the society get a chance to run for positions and elect people to positions. The roles that the committee members serve, and the rules and practices of PEPSOC, are defined in our Constitution.
