About Our Society

The UCD Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences Society (commonly abbreviated to “AHSS” or “Arts Society”) is an all-encompassing social and academic society for those studying or interested in the Arts. Founded approximately four decades ago, we provide a place for students to meet friends and make memories, all while engaging in Arts-themed events. Our founding object has not changed since our first session: to instil a sense of pride and unity amongst the Arts.

Some of our most fantastic events include themed dress-up club nights, pub quizzes, band-offs, charity events and THE essential black tie event of the year: Arts Ball!

The Society has had a number of notable guest speakers and lifetime members throughout the years, including Neil Patrick Jordan, Andrew Scott, Roddy Doyle and current Uachtarán na hÉireann Michael D. Higgins.

The Arts Society is the faculty society for the UCD College of Arts & Humanities, and so strives to also promote academic discussion and critique in a variety of engaging formats (e.g. panels and interviews).
