MedSoc and the UCD AI in Medicine Association will be holding the final Med Talk of the semester with Professor Peter MacMahon, who will speak about ‘Medicine in the Age of the Algorithm.’
Professor MacMahon is a consultant radiologist in the Mater Hospital and the clinical lead for emergency radiology. He has been a proponent for the use of artificial intelligence to enhance patient care, particularly in the emergency department.
In 2023, the Mater became the first hospital in the country to introduce AI technology across its radiology department, resulting in faster detection of anomalies, improved care and freeing up time for staff. This is already proving to be a powerful tool for doctors in the Mater.
Join us next Wednesday to hear about how artificial intelligence can be used to aid clinical decision making as well as some of the challenges surrounding its implementation.
As always free pizza from Base is available for all attendees after the talk!
