Eddie Mullins is the CEO of Merchants Quay Ireland, a charitable organisation which aims to offer people dealing with homelessness and addiction accessible, high-quality, and effective services to meet their complex needs in a non-judgemental and compassionate way.
In 2024, MQI opened Ireland’s first Medically Supervised Injection Facility in collaboration with the Department of Health and the HSE. This marks a significant milestone in the country’s health-led response to drug addiction by providing a safe, hygienic space for people who inject drugs, while also offering a gateway to recovery support.
Eddie worked in the Irish Prison Service for 32 years, where he acquired a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people living on the margins of society. In 2023 he was appointed by Minister for Justice Simon Harris as the Chair of the Dublin North Inner City Local Community Safety Partnership. Eddie then joined MQI to continue and expand their support to vulnerable people navigating addiction, homelessness, and poor health.
