The Newman Catholic Society exists to support, strengthen, and celebrate the Catholic faith on campus, inspired by the founder of our University, and now Doctor of the Church, St John Henry Newman. We are a community of students who desire to grow in friendship with Christ, fidelity to His Church, and fellowship with one another.
Throughout the year, we offer opportunities to deepen faith, build friendships, and encounter the richness of Catholic tradition.
Our calendar includes daily Mass at 12:05 in Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Church UCD, Adoration, Rosaries, and Retreats that help us root our lives in prayer and the Sacraments.
Alongside this, we enjoy the lighter side of community life with socials, excursions, and of course our much-loved Newman Nights.
Every Monday at 6:30pm in St Stephen’s Chaplaincy in UCD, we gather for our signature event: Newman Night. Students come together to share in a free, freshly-cooked meal, enjoy a talk on Catholic life and thought, and spend time in prayer and fellowship. It is the heartbeat of our Society, where faith and friendship meet.
“If we follow the voice of God, we shall be brought step by step into a new world, of which before we had no idea.” – St John Henry Newman
In the midst of student life, with its challenges and questions, we take these words of St John Henry Newman as our guide. We seek to live joyfully and faithfully as Catholic students, journeying together in truth and charity.
Whether you are a cradle Catholic, returning to the faith, or simply curious, you are warmly invited to be part of the Newman Catholic Society.
