Welcome to UCD Politics and International Relations Society, otherwise known as PolSoc! Our society provides students who are studying or have an interest in politics, current affairs and international relations with a welcoming space where they can meet like-minded people, have open discussions and attend events which cover a wide span of areas in the field.
We are a politically-neutral society, and regularly collaborate with other societies and groups on campus to facilitate a diverse range of views and opinions. We organise a large variety of events throughout the year to suit a wide range of interests, including panel discussions, workshops, pub quizzes, trips, careers events and networking events. We aim to foster students’ interests and develop their skills throughout the academic year by making our events as engaging and informative as possible, in addition to working alongside other interested parties.
The society also maintains a close relationship with the expert staff in the School of Politics and International Relations (SPIRe) as the faculty society for the School. We aim to foster a close relationship and integration between staff and students with an interest in politics and international relations within UCD through regular promotion and collaboration with the School in return for their active engagement and support.
In 2023-2024, PolSoc was nominated for four Society of the Year Awards: Best Event, Best Poster, Best Social Media and Best Small Society!
